NHSC National Field Internship Program

The National High School Conservatives of America (NHSC) National Field Internship Program gives motivated students and young leaders across the United States the opportunity to gain practical experience in grassroots organizing, nonprofit operations, civic engagement, communications, fundraising, and leadership.

NHSC Field Interns serve as local representatives of the organization within their communities and work alongside NHSC’s National Field Program to expand the organization’s presence nationwide.

Internships operate on a semester-long basis and are designed to provide meaningful organizational experience without requiring the year-round commitment associated with NHSC Field Representative positions. Field Interns should expect to dedicate approximately 3–4 hours per week, with additional optional or assigned opportunities surrounding major events, campaigns, conferences, and organizational initiatives.

What Field Interns Do

NHSC Field Interns help turn local outreach into measurable organizational growth. Depending on their location and assignments, interns may:

• Represent NHSC at conferences, school events, community gatherings, political events, church events, rallies, and other approved activities.

• Staff NHSC tables, booths, meetings, and outreach events.

• Assist with lawful voter activation and civic engagement initiatives.

• Recruit new NHSC members and introduce students to NHSC programs.

• Identify students interested in establishing new NHSC chapters.

• Help prospective chapter leaders begin the chapter-development process.

• Conduct outreach to students, parents, community leaders, donors, partner organizations, and members of the public.

• Support fundraising campaigns, sponsorship outreach, donor engagement, and fundraising events.

• Promote NHSC programs, initiatives, events, and membership opportunities.

• Conduct follow-up outreach by phone, text, email, or other approved communication methods.

• Collect and maintain accurate information on contacts, member prospects, chapter leads, event participation, and other field metrics.

• Attend required training sessions and field meetings.

• Communicate regularly with NHSC field leadership about progress, opportunities, and challenges.

• Maintain professional conduct and represent NHSC appropriately at all times.

Who We Are Looking For

NHSC is seeking interns who are motivated, dependable, outgoing, professional, and willing to take initiative.

Strong applicants should be comfortable meeting new people, starting conversations, and representing an organization in public.

Applicants should:

• Have strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Be comfortable with public speaking, presentations, and face-to-face outreach.

• Be organized and capable of completing assignments with limited supervision.

• Be willing to actively seek opportunities to grow NHSC in their community.

• Commit approximately 3–4 hours per week for one academic semester.

• Be familiar with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, and Google Calendar.

• Have reliable transportation when necessary for approved local events and activities.

• Maintain consistent communication with NHSC leadership.

• Follow NHSC policies, procedures, branding standards, confidentiality requirements, and field-program expectations.

Previous experience in politics, campaigns, nonprofits, fundraising, public speaking, student government, churches, sales, marketing, community service, or volunteer organizations is helpful but not required.

A National Opportunity

NHSC Field Internships are available to qualified applicants across the United States.

Interns generally work within their own city, school, region, or state while remaining connected to NHSC’s broader National Field Program. Opportunities and assignments may vary depending on an intern’s location, nearby events, organizational priorities, and the presence of other NHSC members, chapters, staff, or partner organizations in the area.

Interns may also participate in virtual outreach, national campaigns, training sessions, and projects involving students and communities outside their immediate region.

• Assist with major NHSC initiatives and events.

• Be considered for other organizational positions based on performance and NHSC needs.
