About the job

The Jay Henges Center for Youth Leadership delivers the Leadership Institute’s most dynamic and high-impact training programs—flagship events like the Youth Leadership School (YLS), Youth Leadership Workshops (YLW), and Campus Election Workshops (CEW). These programs shape the next generation of conservative leaders by equipping them with practical skills, hands-on experience, and strategic training.

We are seeking a high-energy, hyper-organized Event Specialist to plan, coordinate, and execute exceptional training programs across the country. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on logistics, loves problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering flawless attendee experiences.

Your job:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all the Center's training events—from initial concept through onsite operations and post-event evaluation.

  • Manage event logistics including venue selection, travel coordination, vendor negotiation, transportation, catering, AV, and scheduling.

  • Create and prepare event materials, signage, attendee packets, name badges, and production timelines.

  • Work closely with speakers, trainers, and internal departments to ensure smooth program delivery.

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact during events—overseeing setup, registration, staffing, and real-time troubleshooting.

  • Track event budgets, invoices, and contracts to ensure efficient and cost-effective program execution.

  • Build systems and processes to streamline event planning and enhance attendee experience.

  • Travel to events nationwide (up to 40%) to lead and support trainings.

Top candidates will have:

  • Experience in event planning, project management, logistics, or large-scale program coordination.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines with precision.

  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with vendors, venues, and program attendees.

  • Proven ability to stay calm, professional, and solutions-oriented under pressure.

  • A track record of managing details, anticipating needs, and delivering polished, high-quality events.

  • Familiarity with the Youth Leadership School or conservative youth training programs is a plus.

  • Willingness to work nontraditional hours—including select weekends—to support major events.

  • Ability to travel frequently and independently navigate new cities.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Previous experience staffing or managing political, campus, or youth programs.

  • Background with campaign-related events or large student conferences.

  • Comfort presenting briefings or leading small-group trainings.

  • A strong understanding of conservative principles and the Leadership Institute’s mission.
