Title:                           Deputy Field Director

Summary:

The Deputy Field Director Oversees and manages the Regional Field Managers and State Recruiters' operations in the field and in the office. Manage Regional Field Managers (RFM) and State Recruiters (SR) to be successful in meeting their expected goals. Monitor individual RFM’s and SR’s production and finding solutions to problems they come across in their respective regions. Collecting and inputting data into the Leadership Institute Database. Facilitate RFM and SR relationships with other departments and administrative staff. 

Duties: 

  • Create and monitor field staff spending and credit card coding to ensure compliance with the Leadership Institute's policies and procedures.

  • Manage the application and interview process for the field team.

  • Plan and schedule staff training. 

  • Travel to do on-campus trainings with struggling staff members. 

  • Meet (virtually) with your team weekly.

  • Suggest innovative and strategic improvements for the field program. 

  • Work well with other deputy to ensure the success of the field team. 

  • Any other duty assigned to you by the National Field Director. 

Membership Relations:

  • Maintaining good relationships between the field team and the partner organization staff.

  • Ensuring the CLP directory is accurate and up to date.

  • Promote SR activity on campuses without CLP groups.

  • Motivate RFMs and SRs to hit their monthly training goals.

  • Plan and attend CLP’s Student Activism Conference

  • Facilitate the relationship between RFMs and SRs. 

  • Provide remote and in-person RFM and SR assistance to help them grow and expand their campus impact.

Office Management:

  • Maintain current RFM and SR numbers and point out what they need to improve on.

  • Conduct Team Meetings. 

  • Conduct One-on-One Meetings. 

  • Complete RFM and SR ramp. 

  • Follow up on CRO Activism Plans. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Regional Field Managers and State Recruiters assigned to your team.

Qualifications: 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, or ability required.

  • Well organized, can handle several projects at one time under time constraints, and a willing to travel and work nights and weekends. Experience as a campus activist or political grassroots organizer is preferred.

Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications: 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and record-keeping principles. 

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Field or campaign experience  

  • Experience in a student group on a college campus
